What is the Bible? Week 2 - How do we read the bible?
This week, Josh takes a look at how we actually read the Bible.
If we want to read well, we need to keep 3 things in mind:
- Context - There is a gap between the culture in which the Bible was written and our culture today. To read well, we need help understanding the culture the Bible was written in and written to.
- Community - We need conversation, accountability, and encouragement when we read Scripture to keep us from arriving at wrong conclusions, and to ensure that we do more than just know what it says and can actually live it.
- Contemplation - If we are going to practice what Hebrews 4:12 tells us about Scripture, we have to spend time allowing it to penetrate us and work on us from the inside out.

Josh also mentions the Read Scripture App that Revolution will be using to read through the Bible for the next 30 days. It can be found here or by searching for "Read Scripture" in both the Mac and Android app stores.
