5.17.20 - The Joy of Sharing in Others' Burdens (Kenny Camacho)

REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. What do you find frustrating about taking care of others? What is rewarding? Why do you do it?

  2. In Philippians 4:17, Paul writes that he delights in the Philippians’ generosity not because he needs their support, but because he wants “more to be credited to your account.” What do you think he means by this?

  3. Kenny makes the case that when we care for others, we have an opportunity to look more and more like Jesus...and it is in looking like Jesus--whose story ends in resurrection!--that we find our hope. Did that make sense to you? How does it connect to your sense of what it means to serve others?

  4. In the video, Kenny argues that caring for others on its own is not actually a recipe for joy--it’s a recipe for burnout! Does that seem true to you?

  5. He then said that the joy comes from seeing, in the ways others need care and in the ways you need care, a bigger picture of a creation that is made for love. That’s a big idea--did it make sense to you? What is your reaction to that?
