10.25.20 - Matthew 26-28: An Unexpected Hope (Kenny Camacho)
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 26-28
REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
What have you learned in our study of the gospel of Matthew this year? How would you sum the book up? What is one thing that has stood out to you, or that you didn’t know before?
What do you think it means to “know the territory, not just the itinerary”? How can this apply to your own life? How can you better “know the territory” when it comes to your expectations about God?
When the two Marys encounter the angel in the empty tomb on the third morning after Jesus’s death, he says “Come and see...then go quickly.” What does this teach us about the work God is doing in the world? What does it teach us about what is really happening when Jesus rises from the dead?
Where do you need to “go quickly” in your life? Where do you tend to “go quickly”? Are they the same? How can you make sharing hope a bigger priority in your life? Who do you need to share hope with this week?
Jesus’s final words to his disciples are that he will be with them always, even to the end of the age. Why do you think Jesus says this last? What do you think it meant for the disciples then? What do you think it might have meant for Matthew’s first readers, in the late 1st century? What does it mean for you now?
How can we “abide in our relationship with Jesus”? What actions might go along with this goal?
Does Revolution, as a church, really matter to our community? How so? How can we better embody the mission Jesus has given us in our city, in our neighborhoods, and in our workplaces?
What hopes do you have for our church in our next ten years??
