REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. What does being a “peacemaker” mean to you?

  2. What is the difference between pursuing peace by avoiding conflict and pursuing peace by stepping into conflict? Can you think of times when you have used one or both of these strategies? How did things go? What did you learn?

  3. What are some of the things “peacemakers” can do

  4. Kenny listed some additional options on Sunday, including: being quick to apologize, stepping in to mediate disagreements, advocating the mistreated, absorbing harm, and giving generously. What do you think of these strategies? Which ones sound easy to you? Which sound hard?

  5. What does the life of Jesus teach us about what it means to be called “children of God”?

  6. Kenny points out that because Jesus rose from the dead, we no longer need to be ruled by fear and scarcity. What do you think of this? How might this work?

  7. Have fear or scarcity ever stopped you from making peace? How?

  8. In light of our discoveries this week, what can you “choose to lose” this week? Where can you find more confidence in your invitation to be a “peacemaker”?
