Weekly Announcements:
BELIEVE // LAST WEEK’S MESSAGE: PSALM 44
Let’s start off with gratitude: thank you all for being flexible with us this past week. It’s never fun to cancel our worship service, but construction at Heritage necessitated that call this past Saturday, and you folks made the adjustment when you got the news. That’s awesome!
Unfortunately, one casualty of the cancellation was an excellent message from Paul McGrew, which was also the final installment of our Psalms series for this year. The good news is that Paul was willing to record the message at home and share it with us for the Revolution podcast, so if you haven’t yet, please head over to the “Messages” page here on the website (or to the “Revolution Annapolis” page on iTunes) to give it a listen. The Psalms project has given us a wonderful chance to participate more fully in regular expressions of both doubt and faith this year. We hope you have enjoyed it…and if you ever want to revisit the guides our Preaching Team prepared for this year, you can find them here: Psalms 1-41, Psalms 42-72, Psalms 73-89, Psalms 90-106, and Psalms 107-150!
BECOME // LAY LEADERSHIP OPENINGS
As we discussed at our annual Family Meeting this past week, we have 2 new openings on our Lay Leadership Team in the areas of Weekly Services and Generosity! At Revolution, Lay Leaders are volunteers who serve on our governing board and work alongside our lead pastor to move our church forward by praying for and developing specific “areas of oversight” unique to each of the 6 Lay Leader positions. Their job is not to make everything happen! Rather, it is to add their unique perspective and passion to leadership conversations and decision-making for Revolution. This makes the Lay Leadership Team is a great place for someone to serve our church while also growing in their own ministry gifts! We would love for all of you to be praying about whether or not you can step in to help on this team, and if you’re interested in learning more about the roles, the team, or leadership in general, please reach out either to Kenny (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or the Team’s current chairman, Andy Guzik (asguzik@yahoo.com). We are hoping to have new leaders in place in the first quarter of 2022!
BELONG // COMMUNITY-WIDE THANKSGIVING SERVICE
On Wednesday, November 24 at 7pm, our friends at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church (1120 Spa Rd) are hosting a community-wide Thanksgiving service. Heritage’s choir will be singing, and the event is co-sponsored by John Wesley UMC, Congregation Kenesth Israel, St. Martin’s, and Heritage. If you’re in town for the holiday, this will be a great way to make the week more special…and to get to know more folks from other faith communities here in our city!
BECOME // SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS IN THIS SEASON
This holiday season, we are partnering with Light House Shelter here in Annapolis to provide much-needed winter supplies to our neighbors struggling with homelessness. To participate, please consider heading out to purchase hats, waterproof gloves, socks (in original packaging), and winter boots (either new or gently used) this week and bring them back to us over the next two weeks during our Saturday services. Once everything is gathered, we’ll run what we have collected over to Light House for distribution next month. Light House is an outstanding local organization with many, many programs for helping our neighbors in need: please consider getting in touch with them to serve over the coming holidays!
BELONG // ADVENT (AND ADVENT BAGS) ARE COMING THIS WEEK!
Advent is a special season at Revolution! Each year, we use the four weeks leading up to Christmas to reconnect ourselves with the more traditional practices of our faith. This means a lot changes to our weekly services! Although ongoing construction work at Heritage is complicating some of our plans, be on the lookout in the weeks to come for changes to our meeting space and layout, temporary reorderings of our weekly services, and an attempt to simplify our time and our worship as we participate with churches around the world in an intentional season of waiting and anticipation. The season begins this Saturday, November 27.
Also: last year, we prepared special gifts for the Advent season, and we’re getting ready to do it again! We’ll have bags available to pick up beginning on that first Saturday of the season, so if you’re in town, make a plan to join us to pick up yours…and celebrate the first week of the holiday with a new set of Advent candles, a fun chocolate calendar, crafts, and a devotional guide on us.
BELIEVE // CHRISTMAS EVE 2021
This year, we are partnering with other churches in our local network for a community-wide candlelight service at 6pm on Friday, December 24. We are excited to make this time as special as possible for friends, neighbors, and family! We’ll have more news about how you can get involved in the weeks ahead.
BECOME // MEN’S GROUP CONTINUES NEXT THURSDAY
Did you know Revolution has a weekly small group just for the guys in our community? We would love for you to give it a try: it’s a great place to build deeper relationships and discover real discipleship. We meet on Thursday night from 7-8pm, with locations around town varying week to week. To get in the loop, please email Andy Hanauer at andrew.hanauer@gmail.com!
BELONG // AFTER SERVICE GROUP CANCELLED THIS WEEK
The After Service group, which typically meets on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, will be off this week. Join us as when we return on Saturday, December 4!
BELIEVE // YOUTH GROUP IS BACK!
Are you a teen, or the parent of one? RevYouth is back! Meetings are on Saturday nights from 6:30-8:00. Expect games, friends, and fun as we come together to learn more about how we can live out our faith in community. To learn more (and to get involved!), email Shawn Livingston at shawn@revolutionannapolis.com.
BELIEVE // LEARN MORE ABOUT BAPTISM
If you have any questions about what it means to become a Christian or how to take that “first next step” in your faith, reach out to us at info@revolutionannapolis.com. You can also always reach out to Kenny to ask questions through email, chat on the phone, or even grab a cup of coffee to talk in person (at a safe social distance, of course!).
