BELIEVE // CHILDCARE THIS SATURDAY & RETURN TO PHASE 2 SERVICES
Due to the steady decrease in Covid cases in our area, we have reopened RevKids for Saturday nights during our service for Nursery, Preschool, and Elementary ages! Please make sure to show up a few minutes early so kids can get checked in. We are also returning to our Phase 2 plans for our gatherings, which means that we are requiring masks for all attendees in accordance with local guidance and continuing to use self-contained communion elements, but we are also prioritizing in-person gatherings. This means we will not be releasing videos of the service, so if you need more time before feeling comfortable to gather with us in-person, we encourage you to keep up with our teaching time through the Revolution podcast and our announcements by staying tuned here, to the Revolution weekly Loop!
BELONG // WOMEN’S POTLUCK GATHERING FEB. 18
On Friday, February 18, all women of our church are invited to a hang out at Sarah Kramer’s house, beginning at 7pm! Our Church Life Lay Leader, Maggie Young, is hard at work getting new social gatherings on the calendar, and this is the first one of 2022…so you won’t want to miss it! There is a potluck theme (Winter Comfort Food!), and the goal of the get-together is simply to make new friends and build deeper community. We hope you can make it…and feel free to invite a friend, even if they aren’t a part of church community. Sarah’s house is in Severna Park at 503 Old County Rd. See you there!
BECOME // MULTI-CHURCH SERVICE IN HONOR OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH
On February 26th at 2:00 p.m., we will be partnering with several other local churches here in Annapolis–including Heritage Baptist, College Creek Church, Revive Church, John Wesley UMC, Mt. Zion AME, Eastport UMC, & Calvary UMC–for a combined worship service at the Banneker-Douglass Museum downtown. The theme for the service will be unity, and we will be gathering that afternoon in place of our Saturday service that week. We are incredibly excited about this chance to gather as One Church…and we truly hope you will join us. If you are interested in more information, or in playing a part in the service, please let Kenny know this week.
BELONG // SPRING GROUPS PREVIEW
In late February, we will be launching our first full slate of Revolution groups since the spring of 2020! In addition to our Local Groups (which will be continuing) and some of our mainstays (like the Online Bible Study group, Meredith’s “Bestseller Book Club,” and our Thursday night Inter-Church Men’s Group), we will be starting a book study (on Pete Enns’s The Sin of Certainty, led by Fred Miller), a group discussing the hit podcast from last year, The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill (led by Kenny), and moving our Saturday night “After Service” group to Sunday mornings! There are more things in the works, and once again: if there is a group you would like to see, join, host, or lead, please let Andy Guzik (asguzik@yahoo.com), our Discipleship Lay Leader, know!
BELONG // SOFTBALL IS COMING…
…but not until May. In the meantime, however, we’re curious: is there another sport you’d like to play? We’ve been floating ideas for pick-up basketball, bowling teams, and even billiards and poker…really, anything that makes it easy to invite folks to hang out with our community in a neutral setting. And now we want to know: would you be interested in making it happen? If so, let Maggie Young, our Church Life Lay Leader, know! You can reach Maggie on Saturday nights, or by emailing her at youngmaggie14@gmail.com
BECOME // FOOD PANTRY OPPORTUNITIES
A lot of you know about our ongoing partnership with Heritage Baptist Church on their weekly food pantry: that pantry operates each and every Tuesday from 9:30-11:30, with prep work happening on Monday evenings. They could still use our help! So, if you are interested in serving during either time slot, please let us know at info@revolutionannapolis.com and we can get you connected ASAP. But there’s another opportunity to help our neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity, too! We are eager to build a new partnership with our friends at Eastport United Methodist Church, who operate an enormous food pantry/clothing drive/market event every 3rd Saturday morning! Go check things out–and sign up to help!–this month on February 19. You can learn more by reaching out to their lead pastor, Chris Broadwell, at chris@eastportumc.org. He would love to hear from you!
BELIEVE // KEEP YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONALS GOING!
Many of you discovered the blessings of a daily devotional routine over Advent with Scott Erickson’s book, Honest Advent. But now that the holiday season is over, have you been able to keep the good habit going? If you’re looking for help, consider Scott Erickson’s other books, Prayer: 40 Days of Practice, May It Be So: 40 Days with the Lord’s Prayer, and his latest, Say Yes: Discover the Surprising Life Beyond the Death of a Dream. All are available on Amazon, or on his website: scottericksonart.com. If you’re looking for a change of pace, you might also consider joining our Online Bible Study, which uses free daily devotionals through the YouVersion app and discusses them together on Monday nights over Zoom! To sign up, get in touch with Jon Connelly (jonivy82804@hotmail.com) or use the form at revolutionannapolis.com/groups. No matter what, we hope that 2022 is a year of new habits and deep growth!
BECOME // LAY LEADERSHIP OPENINGS
As we discussed at our annual Family Meeting, we have 2 new openings on our Lay Leadership Team in the areas of Weekly Services and Generosity! At Revolution, Lay Leaders are volunteers who serve on our governing board and work alongside our lead pastor to move our church forward by praying for and developing specific “areas of oversight” unique to each of the 6 Lay Leader positions. Their job is not to make everything happen! Rather, it is to add their unique perspective and passion to leadership conversations and decision-making for Revolution. This makes the Lay Leadership Team is a great place for someone to serve our church while also growing in their own ministry gifts! We would love for all of you to be praying about whether or not you can step in to help on this team, and if you’re interested in learning more about the roles, the team, or leadership in general, please reach out either to Kenny (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or the Team’s current chairman, Andy Guzik (asguzik@yahoo.com). We are hoping to have new leaders in place in the first quarter of 2022!
BECOME // MEN’S GROUP CONTINUES THURSDAYS
Did you know Revolution has a weekly small group just for the guys in our community? We would love for you to give it a try: it’s a great place to build deeper relationships and discover real discipleship. We meet on Thursday night from 7-8pm, with locations around town varying week to week. To get in the loop, please email Andy Hanauer at andrew.hanauer@gmail.com!
BELIEVE // LEARN MORE ABOUT BAPTISM
If you have any questions about what it means to become a Christian or how to take that “first next step” in your faith, reach out to us at info@revolutionannapolis.com. You can also always reach out to Kenny to ask questions through email, chat on the phone, or even grab a cup of coffee to talk in person (at a safe social distance, of course!).
