Weekly Announcements:
BELONG // FAMILY RETREAT RETURNS: MAY 6-8
On May 7, we will not be holding our weekly worship service at Heritage…because we will be out camping together! Please consider joining us between May6-8 for our annual spring Church Family Retreat. We’ll be gathering at Camp Harmison near Berkeley Springs, WV, which offers a group camping area complete with a covered shelter, fireplace, full kitchen, full bathrooms, and (most important!) showers. There’s no agenda for the weekend: it’s just an easy opportunity to hang out with friends, read a book, enjoy time outside, and eat yummy food. If you’re not a big “camper,” it’s a pretty easy entry point…and there are folks in our community with gear to share! You can learn more and sign up for your spot HERE.
BELIEVE // COMMUNITY PRAYER SERVICE MAY 3
The Annapolis Clergy Group is sponsoring monthly prayer services, open to everyone in the Annapolis community, on the first Tuesdays of each month. The first gathering is this Tuesday, May 3, at Trinity United Methodist Church at 7pm. Our hope and prayer is that these gatherings becomes places for connection in our community…and we really hope you can attend!
BELONG // SET UP HELP
Would you be willing to join our Set Up and Tear Down teams? In March, we shifted our Saturday night services to a new space at Heritage Baptist, and we are really loving how much more comfortable and community-focused it is…but setting it up each week also takes a lot more work! If you would be willing to show up a bit early on Saturday evenings to set up the room and put out chairs, we want to see you! Send a quick email over to Garrett, our Production Manager, at garrett@revolutionannapolis.com. You can also join the team the old-fashioned way, too…by just showing up! Kenny and Garrett are typically at Heritage by 3pm and could use help any time between 3 and 5. Stop on by!
BELONG // IN SEARCH OF: A MEN’S SOCIAL EVENTS LEADER!
One of our goals for Church Life in 2022 is creating comfortable spaces for folks to not only reconnect with each other, but also to invite their friends who don’t go to church to build real friendship with those of us who do! To help us get there, our Church Life Lay Leader, Maggie Young, has been coordinating monthly gatherings outside of Saturdays for women in our church community. But the men in our church community need something similar! So, Maggie is putting out an all-call for someone in our church who might be interested in planning (or at least helping her plan!) men’s events for every other month. We aren’t thinking of anything expensive or fancy: just a Friday night bonfire or a plan to watch the NBA playoffs together would do just fine. If you might be interested in stepping up and joining Maggie’s team, just let her know! You can talk to her on Saturday night, or email her anytime at youngmaggie14@gmail.com.
BECOME // INTER-CHURCH MEN’S GROUP CONTINUES THURSDAYS
Speaking of the guys in our church community: did you know we participate in a small, multi-church men’s group? If not, we would love to invite you to give it a try! This is a great place to build deeper relationships and discover real discipleship. The group meets on Thursday nights from 7-8pm, with locations around town varying week to week. To get in the loop, please email Andy Hanauer at andrew.hanauer@gmail.com!
BECOME // HELPING WITH REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY
Our friends at LOVE AACO are starting a new program to help recent refugees from Afghanistan settle into life and community here in our county. To start with, they are asking folks to join one of two teams: the first is financial, with a goal of making sure each family can make ends meet for at least their first 3 months here. The second team is relational: we also want to build support networks to help make people feel safe and cared for as soon as possible. If you would like to learn more about representing Revolution as a part of this group, or if you just want to learn more about how to give, you can reach out to Kenny this week to let him know: kenny@revolutionannapolis.com.
BECOME // SUPPORTING THE PEOPLE OF UKRAINE WITH CONGREGATION KNESETH ISRAEL
Rabbi Dave Sislenn, of Congregation Kneseth Israel here in Annapolis, has asked for help from the faith communities of our city as his congregation seeks to gather and centralize local relief for those displaced and suffering as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine. His congregation has put together a list of vetted aid organizations HERE.
BELONG // REVYOUTH CONTINUES!
Middle- and High School-age youth are invited to join us on Sunday nights as the RevYouth group begins partnering with the youth group at Heritage Baptist! We are so excited bout this opportunity to build a bigger and more active community together...while also building deeper faith partnerships in our city. The group gathers at 1740 Forest Dr. from 6:30-7:45pm. We hope your kids can make it!
BECOME // IN SEARCH OF: REVKIDS VOLUNTEERS!
As we continue moving forward with reopening RevKids during our weekly services, we need volunteers! If you are ready to step in to help not only look out for the children of our church, but help to foster their first steps towards faith, please reach out to our Children’s Pastor, Shawn Livingston, at shawn@revolutionannapolis.com. You’ll be glad you did!
BELONG // SOFTBALL IS COMING SOON…
…and Revolution wants to be ready! Although our league won’t start up until June, we are thinking of having a few practices later in May to get ready. If you’d like to join the team this year, send a quick email to our Team Captain, Andy Guzik, at asguzik@yahoo.com and let him know!
BECOME // FOOD PANTRY OPPORTUNITIES
A lot of you know about our ongoing partnership with Heritage Baptist Church on their weekly food pantry: that pantry operates each and every Tuesday from 9:30-11:30, with prep work happening on Monday evenings. They could still use our help! So, if you are interested in serving during either time slot, please let us know at info@revolutionannapolis.com and we can get you connected ASAP. But there’s another opportunity to help our neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity, too! We are eager to build a new partnership with our friends at Eastport United Methodist Church, who operate an enormous food pantry/clothing drive/market event every 3rd Saturday morning! You can learn more by reaching out to their lead pastor, Chris Broadwell, at chris@eastportumc.org. He would love to hear from you!
