This Week’s Announcements:

BELONG // SOFTBALL IS HERE!

It’s time to play ball! This summer, on Monday and Wednesday nights, Revolution’s softball team will be playing games against teams from other local churches at 6:30pm at Annapolis Middle School. Everyone is invited to come out! A spot in the batting order is open to folks who want to play and who are at least 14 years old. But even if you’d rather avoid swinging a bat, we would still love to see you there! Softball games are a great time to hang out with friends, cheer for our church, and meet new people. We hope everyone will drop in at least a time or two… and to help you make a plan, here’s the schedule for this summer:

BELONG // LET’S TAKE A WALK!

When it comes to summer social events, we’re gonna start nice and easy on June 23. Everyone is invited to meet up for lunch after service (location TBD) and then meet for a “hike/walk” at our own local Quiet Waters at 3pm. Please RSVP if you’re interested and talk w/ Maggie or Emily if you want to coordinate carpooling to 600 QUIET WATERS PARK RD, ANNAPOLIS, MD 21403. Parking is a small fee ($6/car for a day pass), and we want to encourage everyone not to park outside the main gate and walk in as there was one isolated carjacking incident under those circumstances last winter and it’s much safer using the provided parking inside the park. We’ll meet at the Visitor Center off the parking lot (opposite the Pavilion). Generally the trail is mostly paved, mildly rolling, easy walking, and is largely shaded. Let Emily or Maggie know if you have any questions about what to wear or bring for 1-2 hours of easy hike/walking.

BELONG // “5th SUNDAY POTLUCK” ON JUNE 30!

Something new is happening! After the success of our Easter potluck Sunday, we have decided to begin hosting potluck brunches on the last Sunday of every month with a “5th Sunday” in it! That means that in two weeks, on June 30, we will be shifting our schedule on Sunday so we can spend some quality time with one another! Here’s how things work:

At 9:30, you are invited to join is in the cafeteria at Mills-Parole for a potluck brunch. Everyone is invited to bring a recipe, but it isn’t required to participate: simply show up a bit early, and enjoy some quality time (and quality food) with friends!

Then, instead of holding our worship service at 10am, we will move it back 30 minutes to 10:30 a.m. This should allow us to finish up by 11:30, break everything down and get it back in the bins, and load out by 12:15 (when our rental ends).

Here’s what you can do: if your last name begins with a letter between A-M, please bring something savory to share. If it begins with a letter between N-Z, please bring something sweet! Revolution will supply the plates and plasticware.

This is an easy, fun, and delicious way for us to continue to foster real friendships within our church community. We hope you will make a plan to join us!

BELONG // NEW “BUY NOTHING” GROUP FOR REVOLUTION FOLKS!

Our very own Kat Mahone has organized a new “buy nothing” group for us at Revolution! “Buy nothing” groups are an easy-to-use resource for sharing and finding things which can be exchanged for free. If you have some stuff in a closet or garage you’re not using, you can post it… and if you see something you could use, you can claim it! To join the group, you can click HERE to set up an account and see what folks are sharing!

BELONG // BUILDING COMMUNITY FOR WOMEN AT REVOLUTION!

The women of Revolution have updates! In addition to a new, monthly fellowship gathering, we have also started a new GroupMe channel for staying in touch! Both Apple and Android phones can use the app, so give it a quick download and then reach out to either Maggie Young or Emily Heller to join the conversation!

Thanks to everyone who participated and donated to the clothing swap on May 25th! We were able to share over 80 items, some people got some new gems, and the rest were donated to Goodwill. Thank you for minimizing waste and giving your clothes a second life in our community.

BELIEVE // COFFEE, ANYONE?

Do you have questions? Doubts? Would you just like to talk through things with someone? Kenny is also always up for that, too! Just send him an email (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or text (803.727.8500).

BECOME // SUPPORTING REVOLUTION CHURCH

At Revolution, we believe that our church needs to be a witness to God’s bottomless love and an example of what it means to wrestle and grow with our faith together. Following Jesus isn’t easy! But even in our doubts, if we take the things we are struggling to believe and put them into practice together, we learn to ask better questions and live in ways that are more beneficial for others.

If you want to join us in this mission, you can be a part in a few different ways:

First, you can commit to presence: it is our sincere hope as a church that you find real purpose and meaning in being a part of our services and groups at Revolution. They exist for you! But have you ever thought about what you have to offer those gatherings in return? Your unique perspective, hopes, experiences, and struggles are part of the bigger story of our church. You have an important part to play here, and that part begins by making faithful presence a priority!

Second, you can commit to generosity: we want to imitate God’s generosity by looking for ways we can share what we have been given with others to bring hope, justice, and safety to our neighbors. One way you can practice that generosity is by supporting our ministry here at Revolution financially: we are a non-profit organization committed to maintaining a Christian ministry in Annapolis, forgiving the debts of our neighbors, and financially supporting both church plants and existing churches in our area. Your gifts help keep this commitment going! But we also want to make sure you know that giving is important no matter where you do it: find a non-profit, charity, or aid organization whose cause you support and make a plan to be faithful and generous towards them! God can do more with our resources than we can… and giving is one of the practical ways we put our trust in what He can do.

Third, you can commit to service: here at Revolution, we are in need of all sorts of volunteers to keep our ministry going. If you are available to help out on any of our Sunday morning teams, or with any of our groups or other outreach ministries during the week, we need you! This is a great way to contribute to the church… and to make new friends.

The city of Annapolis needs help, too! If you are able, make time in your week to participate in a routine act of service for our community. There are multiple food pantries we support, all of whom need help, as well as opportunities to work with kids in need of tutoring, care for unhoused residents in our city who need assistance, and serve as an advocate for a variety of justice-seeking non-profits working to make Annapolis a more equitable place to live. For help a place to serve, just talk with Kenny (kenny@revolutionannapolis.com) or our Community Engagement Lay Leader, Cathy Miller (cathygrowinghealthy@gmail.com).
