4.10.21 - On Grief (Kenny Camacho)
SCRIPTURE: Job 14, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
REFLECT:
When you hear the word grief, what do you think of? What experiences have you had, or are you now having, with grief? How would you define it?
Kenny said that “grief is the very place we fear no real god can follow us...but it is also the very place our God does.” What do you think of this statement? What does it mean? What is “at stake” in it?
One effect of Jesus’s death on the cross is that it means when we grieve, “we have Divine company.” Do you believe God knows about our grief? If so, how does it feel to know he understands? What does it reveal about his character?
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” What does this verse mean? How can it apply to your own life?
Who around you is grieving right now? If you don’t know, how can you find out? How can your own grief serve them? How can you follow God’s example in this relationship? What would such a thing mean?
If you are carrying grief alone today, please reach out to Kenny to talk about where you are. What you’re feeling is okay...and you don’t have to carry it alone. You can email him at kenny@revolutionannapolis.com or call at 803.727.8500.
