5.9.21 - Nomadic Hope (Kenny Camacho)

SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 1:1-7

REFLECTION QUESTIONS:

  1. What are “Fern’s Rules for Living Nomadically”? What is the big opportunity feeling like a nomad can create for you?

  2. Have you ever felt like the Gentile Christians Peter is addressing in his letter? Like aliens in your own community? When did this happen? What got you through it? What were you able to learn?

  3. Peter’s encouragement to these Christians has 3 main parts: he tells them God sees them, he tells them God is connecting them to His story, and he tells them God dwells in them. How do these 3 things equal “encouragement”? How might you relate here?

  4. Peter’s reassurance to these Christians has a lot to do with their inheritance. What is going on here, do you think? How can we benefit from this reassurance, too?

  5. Lastly, Peter celebrates the faith these Christians have already demonstrated. What is so significant about this praise coming from Peter? What is his story, when it comes to faith in Jesus? What can we learn from him?

  6. What does it mean to have “permission to hope”? Do you feel like you have this? Like you need this?
