BELONG // COVID-19 AND REVOLUTION
As we are all aware, coronavirus has arrived in Maryland. Although the cases so far are few and the virus itself is rarely life-threatening, this outbreak is still having a significant impact on our lives and the lives of our neighbors. As for Revolution’s Sunday schedule, we will follow the school system: if schools are closed, Revolution will be unable to gather at Germantown Elementary. If this happens, we will communicate through the Loop, Facebook, and Instagram what our plan will be for keeping our community healthy and active in the weeks and months to come. But here’s the thing, friends: we want to do more than just weather this storm. We want to stand up in this moment and show other people that they matter, that God loves them, and that we are for them, too. So, use the coming weeks to get to know your neighbors and their fears/concerns in this moment: do they have elderly or immuno-compromised relatives in the home? Are they worried about childcare if schools are closed? Do they need help with groceries? Are they just scared? Now is the time to listen, to stand with them, and to show them what it means to be cared for, just because they’re another child of God. Let’s be the church in this season!
BECOME // “FLOURISH” UPDATE AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP
Two Sundays ago, Revolution’s former lead pastor Josh Burnett joined us to share a bit about his new project, Flourish! Josh outlined the ways he hopes Flourish will lead to tremendous new opportunities for volunteering in our community that can radically change our city for the better, while also helping each and every one of us find a place to serve that matches our passions, gifts, resources, and availability. As Flourish moves into the next phase of testing, Josh is looking for people in our church community who can commit to giving the process a try. BELIEVE // LET’S READ THE BIBLE TOGETHER!
Have you ever wanted to learn more about the Bible, but you haven’t known where to start? Our lead pastor is always eager to lead or help facilitate new Bible study groups to help make that happen! You can message Kenny any time at kenny@revolutionannapolis.com to see about starting a weekly study over coffee before work, connecting with our online Bible study group, or starting something totally new for others to be a part of!
BELIEVE // OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT “BEING BELOVED”
Over the last few weeks, we have talked a lot about experiencing the reality that we are all God’s “beloved” for ourselves. This is a big thing to consider! If you would like to talk more about what this means for you, or if you have questions about commitment steps for Christ followers such as being baptized, please email Kenny at kenny@revolutionannapolis.com. There is no pressure, and he would love to talk with you about your questions!
BECOME // “THE SYNDICATE” CONCERT AND FUNDRAISER
Revolution’s own Daja Burnett is putting on an event called #theSYNDICATE20 which will use music and art to raise awareness and funds for organizations fighting to stop abuse and neglect within the foster care system! The event is scheduled for April 3, and tickets are available now. One more thing: several folks from the Revolution Band will be performing, too! After having such fun last year, we’re very excited about Revolution’s 2nd Family Retreat in Berkeley Springs, WV! Our hope is that Family Retreat will be a time of rest, fun, and connection for all members of our Revolution family. Whether you’re new to camping or an old pro, Family Retreat is for you, and we hope you’ll join us! Save the date for April 23-26, 2020 (but feel free to come late or leave early). BELONG // INFO ON THE 2020 WOMEN’S RETREAT
This Fall, all women in our church community are invited to attend the 2020 Revolution Women’s Retreat for a time of fellowship, for the kindling of new friendships, and for focused time with God. The weekend getaway will be held at a beach house in Rehoboth, DE on October 23-25. Sign ups have already begun HERE. Make sure to reserve a spot!
