Weekly Announcements:
BELONG // REVOLUTION, COVID-19, AND STAYING CONNECTED
As we continue in these new rhythms of our lives, our tendency is going to be to isolate ourselves. But as a church family, we are here for one another! If you are feeling alone, please don’t be afraid to reach out to a friend or to our church staff: we are still working, and our phones are always nearby! You can reach our lead pastor, Kenny, by email at kenny@revolutionannapolis.com or by phone at 803.727.8500. And if you are missing someone, please send them an email, a text, or make a phone call, too! We are all in this together, and we are a family: you matter here, and we are here for you.
BECOME // NEW COVID-19 RELIEF FUND
In order to help meet current and future needs in our church community related to the coronavirus emergency, we have set up a special fund designation on our online giving page. The money that goes into this fund will go to relief and benevolence efforts inside our church community as they become apparent. Any funds left at the end of the current emergency will go to other relief efforts in our city, including paying down any medical debt accumulating right now as a result of coronavirus-related hospitalizations. If you are someone whose financial situation is stable, and you recently received a stimulus check, we would encourage you to take a portion of that check and give it towards this fund: this is a practical way for us to care for one another. If you were with us for our study of the book of Acts last year, you know this is exactly the kind of thing the first Christians did: they gave all they had to the care of their brothers and sisters in the church. We can do this too!
BELONG // TRIVIA NIGHT NEXT MONDAY!
So, the questions have been written, the Zoom rooms are set, and Kenny and Meredith are hosting a team trivia night next Monday! Festivities will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Monday over the church’s Zoom account (meeting ID: 7975456192, password: revolution). You are welcome to plan on a team to play with beforehand, or, if you’d prefer, you can show up on the call a little before 8 and we will get you set up with a team then! We are really excited about this, and if it’s a ‘hit’, we will keep these events coming! To help with planning, if you know you want to play with a particular group of teammates, email us at info@revolutionannapolis.com to let us know your ‘roster’—this will speed up the group-forming process on Monday. See you all then!
BELONG // WEEK 7 VIDEO CHALLENGE
This week, make a quick video letting us know something new you have been cooking! Send your video to us at info@revolutionannapolis.com so we can share it on Sunday!
BELIEVE // WEDNESDAY NIGHT “THEOLOGY ON TAP”
This Wednesday, we are talking through the first week of our new series on Philippians: what is joy, anyway? And where, exactly, does it come from? Join us for an open-forum conversation this Wednesday night at 8:30! You can join on Zoom by clicking this link https://zoom.us/j/7975456192 and entering the password: revolution. The password step is a new protection on Zoom’s end of things. So, once work is done, kids are asleep, and pets are fed, grab a beverage of your choice and log on with us!
BELIEVE // BOOK AND SOUP GROUP
We have decided to continue with our quarterly book group that explores social and moral issues around us. We'll use Zoom and the church's ID number of 7975456192 to have a virtual meeting, Sunday afternoon on April 26, 4:00pm to 5:30pm.- obviously without shared soup this time! Our book this quarter is "Be the Bridge - Pursuing God's Heart for Racial Reconciliation" by Latasha Morrison. From the back cover: "Change begins with an honest conversation among a group of Christians willing to give a voice to unspoken hurts, hidden fears, and mounting tensions." It's an easy but challenging read. We welcome you to the conversation! See Fred and Cathy Miller for questions.
BELIEVE // NEW SUNDAY BOOK STUDY STARTING SOON!
Starting April 26, our Sunday Book Club returns! This time out, we will be studying the first book in a series by Dr. David Benner titled Surrender to Love. It promises to be a thoughtful and encouraging study! There’s a 5 session discussion guide which the group will use to roughly direct talks. Feel free to join us anytime! Meetings are over Zoom on Sundays, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. For information on how to get involved, click HERE to sign up to join the email list for the group!
BECOME // ‘LOVE AACO’: A NEW WAY TO HELP FEED THE HUNGRY IN OUR CITY
A collective of churches in our area (including Revolution!) are working together to help prepare weekly grocery boxes for folks who are in need during this season. Each box, which includes groceries for one person for one week, costs around $25 to stock. We are currently looking for donors to help ‘buy’ these boxes so we can meet our collective goal in our network of packing 1,000 boxes by May 1. This project is in specific partnership with Caring Cupboard and the Walk the Walk Foundation here in Maryland. To donate, click the link HERE and select “Love AACo 2020” in the menu. This is a great way to continue loving our neighbors by sharing what God has given us with all in need!
BECOME // DONATIONS NEEDED FOR THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY FOOD BANK
The AACo Food Bank is in desperate need of donations to keep up with an increase in demand. You can drop frozen foods and shelf-stable items off at their main location off Crownsville Road, or you can be a part of a virtual food drive and shop online for groceries to be delivered directly to the food bank. To take part, learn more HERE!
BECOME // DONATE BLOOD WITH AAMC
With hospitalizations on the rise, our community is in desperate need for blood donations. You can still help! The Blood Donor Center at Anne Arundel Medical Center is open Monday-Wednesday from 8:15am - 3:45pm & Thursday-Friday from 7:15am - 2:45pm. To learn more about Blood Mobile drives in your area, you can check them out HERE.
BELONG // REVMIDDLE AND REVHIGH
If you are a middle schooler or high schooler, Revolution’s youth group is for you. If you would like to connect in this season, please get in touch with our team leader, Bailey Nilsen, at bailey@revolutionannapolis.com.
